Attitude
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he…”
Proverbs 23:7
“Circumstances do not make the man; they reveal him to himself.” This is a quote by author and philosopher James Allen. The concept that human beings have the ability to choose their attitudes, perspectives and actions- regardless of circumstances- has been around for thousands of years.
Dr. Victor Frankl, survivor of three grim years at Auschwitz and other Nazi prisons has recorded his observations on life in Hitler’s camps:
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others and giving away their last piece of bread. They have been few in number but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
William James said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” If your attitude is not what it should be, you can change it, and by doing so, you will change your life-for you will make it possible for you to be what you want to be!
- More people fail through faulty mental attitudes than in any other way.
- Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I respond to it.
- With attitude being so important, the remarkable thing is, we get to choose the attitude we will embrace every day!
